BOUQUET

The wintery evergreen canopy groans
 bowing low over harlequin shadows
Ravenous winds transform branches to twigs
Limbs become splinters-
Ghosts in the snow
Slow motion Luna ascends to the throne reigning over his December kingdom
Behold his magnificent ransoms of dreams-
And icicle crystals befitting his queen

DESIRED CONSTRAINTS

SOFTER
By morning light glimmer, the canvas spreads wide
The pallet knife textures with soft cotton clouds
Sounds of deep Winter resound all around
The evergreens whisper-
"Remember"

Blend her complexion from porcelain hues
Baby blue irises-
Silent and wise
Lips slightly parted, the shape of a heart
Softer than lanolin-
Rinsed by the hearth

Intricate patterns of linen and lace-
The delicate waist tied with ribbon
Crimson and blue-
Effusions of light, like the eyes of a child counting stars by the fire
